One of the most iconic street food in the streets of the city, Phuchka comes in numerous variation. A deep fried hollow sphere offered with a stuffing of mashed potatoes mixed with spices and a dash of ‘tetul-jol’ is as much a treat to the eyes as they are to the mouth.



When it comes to street food, phuchka is the undoubted leader. The aroma of dhaniya invade the senses even before you dig into it. It is an explosion of crunchy spices and flavour with a burst of watery goodness. The hard-hitting tangy sensation of the pickled water served along with the phuchka is the result of an amalgamation of dhaniya, lime and tamarind.It doesn't matter if you are a tourist or a resident in Kolkata, but your day in the city is not complete if you haven't been to the street stalls that offer a variety to the food aficionados.

Biriyani At Arsalan

With outlets at various locations in Kolkata, Arsalan is one of the best restaurants in Kolkata, which serves authentic Mughlai food and especially Biryani. Arsalan Biriyani is probably the best in town.It's aroma triggers a mouth watering sensation.The Kolkata Biryani is made out of a different combination of spices, which renders it its unique taste. Anybody to have tasted the Biryani in Kolkata is sure to have come back to get some more of it.Despite the oil content, the biryani tastes great. Superb texture, lovely smell. Actually you can tell it's Arsalan biryani from the aroma of the rice. First, the aroma of the masala mixed made with a blend of spices, well roasted, gets you. This is located right at the 5 point crossing at Shyambazar and is one of the oldest eateries out here in Kolkata.  The mutton kosha with spicy dark-colored oily gravy, teamed with soft rumali roti or hot porota can be a mutton lover's heavenly delight. The kosha mangsho and porota combo is truly what your heart craves for and t he added bonus is the tangy chutney they serve along with it. One thing you have to keep in mind while having a meal at Golbari is that you cannot be very health conscious.The food has generous amount of oil and a lot of spices  but it will sure satisfy the taste buds.
