Royal exception of… Royal Indian Hotel

Biriyani Without Aloo At Royal Indian Hotel

Located at Barabazar (
147, Rabindra Sarani,Bara Bazar, Kolkata)
is one of the oldest eateries in the city.Their Biriyani is unique it is the Authentic Lucknowi biriyani served without aloo. No cinnamon is used in cooking of this biriyani they use only cardamom and clove to achieve a subtle flavour,Saffron does the rest of the trick. How tough it is to serve biryani without the potato in a city but they have done it.They have a very interesting message on the back of their menu card which says
"Few dishes of the world have the mystique appeal to the taste buds, that the traditional 'biriyani' does.It is a stuff that legends are made of-Delectable fare,Enjoying top honours at the table of the kings and gourmets, the original inspiration of this complicated masterpiece of culinary art has been claimed by every country and even family, has its own jealousy-guarded recipe,handed down from generation to generation through the ages,Shahjehan ate it so did the Nawabs of Lucknow and Hyderabad .But long before them the ancient Persian rulers have accorded its pride of place in their Bedouin banquets and given it its name, quite literally means roasting rice and meat together"

Royal has many more dishes other than Biriyani which is a hevenly delight the Mutton chaap & roti is worth the time, this is a signature dish of royal. It had numerous small pieces of mutton some boneless & some with rib bones. It had a peppery, grainy, minimalistic gravy that was dark brown in colour. The taste is very spicy. You can also try their Phirni wildly popular as a desert ,simple in look but very rich in taste.
Royal will indeed give a royal meal to you.
